International Law Firm Continues Private Client Push

The international law firm McDermott Will & Emery has recruited Ellen Harrison as a partner in its Washington, DC, private client practice. Harrison was previously a partner at the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. The addition of Harrison advances McDermott’s strategic focus on expanding its private client practice in Washington, DC, which was established this year when Leigh-Alexandra Basha joined the firm . As well as Basha, Jean-Marc Tirard, David Adler and Nicholas Holland recently joined as private client partners in London. The new Washington private client practice will work with other McDermott offices in the US and London to provide global advice to wealthy clients and family offices. Harrison focuses her practice on tax issues including estate planning and administration, tax controversies, and US and international income, gift and estate tax planning. Her clients include high net worth individuals, businesses and charitable organizations. She also has a strong background in estate planning matters including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, prenuptial agreements, buy-sell agreements, corporate documents, and family partnership agreements. McDermott’s private client practice group consists of over 70 lawyers and 30 non-lawyer professionals representing high net worth individuals, families and closely-held businesses.
